Insta360 has now released its new GO 2 mini-camera, which might be good news for those who prefer a dedicated device for their vlogging, outdoor antics or general photographical lifestyle. Like its predecessor, the first GO, it comes in a TWS earbud-like charging case. However, this version represents a considerable, sincere re-think in terms of its design.
The GO 2 snaps into its case with its magnetic backing, as before; however, once in there, it can still be used thanks to the new buttons found in the other half of the hinged accessory. A tiny status display is also now found above these controls, which still work when the GO 2 is removed as it is also wireless. The case also now integrates tripod legs.
The camera also comes with a Magnet Pendant, as before, so that it can stick to the user through their clothing as well as to the metallic things around them. However, when worn, it can offer highly convincing first–person-view footage of up to 1440p/50fps in resolution.
Insta360 has also augmented the FlowState stabilization found in the original GO with basic in-device stablization for its latest device. Both modes can also be used for video clips, of up to 10 and 15 minutes in length respectively.
GO-series fans might notice that both limits have been pushed way back compared to the first version: this is because its successor now has 32GB of internal storage as opposed to 8GB in the original. The 2 also has elongated standalone and in-case recording limits, of 30 and 150 minutes respectively. It also now has more field-of-view options: Ultra Wide; Action View; Linear and Narrow.
It also now ships with a Lens Guard in the box (apparently in response to customer feedback), as well as a Pivot Stand with a sticky base; an Easy Clip that might be handy in a car, and its USB type C charging cable. The Insta260 GO 2 can be purchased from now from its OEM’s first-party store, and starts at US$300, or more for bundles with additional things such as selfie sticks or pet mounts.
